Dependable Energy’s Propane Price Protection Energy Plan 2025–2026: What You Need to Know?
Every fall, Connecticut homeowners face the same uncertainty: what will propane cost this winter? Prices move with global energy markets, and a cold snap at the wrong moment can turn an already tight heating budget into a real problem.
Dependable Energy’s Price Protection Energy Plan for the 2025–2026 heating season gives Connecticut homeowners a way to take that uncertainty off the table. By purchasing a fixed quantity of propane at a locked-in price now — before deliveries begin on October 1, 2025 — you know exactly what you’re paying per gallon, regardless of where the market goes between now and April 30, 2026.
As required by Connecticut law, all Fixed Price programs are transacted by contract. There are three plans to choose from — each offering 250 gallons of home heating propane at a fixed price, with different payment structures to fit different budgets.
How the Price Protection Plan Works?
All three plans share the same foundational terms. You are pre-buying 250 gallons of fixed-price home heating propane. All deliveries are made on an automatic delivery schedule, calculated using a degree day system that monitors local temperature data. Deliveries run from October 1, 2025 through April 30, 2026.
The fixed price is the price, even if the market falls below the contracted rate. Fixed prices are net prices and are not subject to further discounts. No interest is earned on reserved gallons. There will be no partial fills on any plan. All fixed price and budget accounts are placed on automatic delivery and remain on automatic delivery. The customer is responsible for contacting Dependable Energy’s office to cancel automatic delivery after April 30, 2026.
The Three Plans: Choose What Works for Your Budget
Plan A — Fixed (Prepay)
250 gallons at $2.599/gallon — Total Balance: $649.75 paid in full. Payment in full must be returned to Dependable Energy by August 1, 2025 with the signed contract. This is the lowest per-gallon rate available and requires full prepayment. The customer is PRE-BUYING fixed price home heating propane; even if the market falls below the reserved gallon price, deliveries will be priced at the contract rate.
Plan B — Fixed with 3-Month Installment Plan
250 gallons at $2.649/gallon — Total Balance: $662.25 paid in 3 monthly installments of $220.75. The first payment must be received by August 1, 2025; all remaining payments are due by the 10th of each month. Sign and return the contract within 10 days. The fixed price propane will be invoiced at the contract price herein.
Plan C — Fixed with 6-Month Installment Plan
250 gallons at $2.699/gallon — Total Balance: $674.75 paid in 6 monthly installments of $112.46. The first payment must be received by August 1, 2025; all remaining payments are due by the 10th of each month. Sign and return the contract within 10 days. This plan offers the most flexibility with the smallest monthly commitment.
Which Plan Should You Choose?
The right plan depends on your cash flow situation, not on which plan offers the best per-gallon protection — all three lock in a fixed price for the same 250 gallons. The only variable is when and how you pay.
Choose Plan A if you can comfortably pay the full $649.75 upfront and want the lowest available per-gallon rate for the season.
Choose Plan B if you prefer to spread payments over three months at $220.75 per installment — a solid middle ground between upfront cost and monthly commitment.
Choose Plan C if you want the smallest monthly payment at $112.46 over six months and prefer maximum flexibility in your monthly cash flow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the deadline to enroll in the Price Protection Energy Plan?
A: The contract must be received at Dependable Energy’s office no later than August 1, 2025. For Plan A, payment in full must accompany the signed contract by that date. For Plans B and C, the first installment payment must also be received by August 1, 2025.
Q: If propane prices drop below my locked-in price, do I still pay the contract rate?
A: Yes. This is a fixed-price contract, not a price cap. Your deliveries will be priced at the contract rate regardless of where the market moves during the heating season. The trade-off is certainty: you know exactly what you’re paying per gallon from October through April, no matter what happens to propane prices.
Q: How does automatic delivery work under this plan?
A: All Price Protection Plan accounts are placed on automatic delivery. Dependable Energy uses a degree day system — tracking local temperature data — to calculate when your propane needs to be replenished and schedules deliveries proactively. You don’t need to call to request a delivery. After the plan ends on April 30, 2026, you are responsible for contacting our office if you wish to cancel automatic delivery.
Q: Can I get a partial fill under the Price Protection Plan?
A: No. There will be no partial fills on any of the three plans. This is a standard term of the fixed-price contract.
Q: What payment methods does Dependable Energy accept for this plan?
A: Dependable Energy accepts check, money order, MasterCard, VISA, and Discover. Budget autopay is also available. Include your payment with your signed contract and return it to our office at 9 Gramar Avenue, Prospect, CT 06712.
Q: Does the price protection cover heating oil as well as propane?
A: The Price Protection Energy Plan 2025–2026 as described in this contract is specifically for home heating propane. Dependable Energy also delivers heating oil throughout Greater Waterbury — contact our office at (203) 758-5831 or visit dependableenergy.net to ask about available programs for heating oil customers.
Q: When does the delivery season begin and end?
