What Is a Ductless Heating System?

A ductless heating system, also called a ductless mini-split, is an air conditioner or heat pump that doesn't require any ductwork. Ductless systems have two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit(s). The outdoor unit contains the condenser, which removes heat from your home, and the compressor, which circulates the refrigerant through the system. The indoor air handler contains the evaporator coil, which absorbs heat from your home's air, and a blower, which circulates air through the system.
